Spring Shoes Run Faster

By admin, November 4, 2009 2:52 pm

I’m going out for Spring Track and I have a few questions.?

I just have a few questions about Track. There was a sign-up meeting yesterday but it didn’t talk about many details.

First of all, I want to know what to wear. I was vaguely told that any thing is fine, such as sweats or shorts and a t-shirt. But what do you wear during meets? (Yes I’m worried about the rumored short-shorts.) Would I be able to wear something over or under the short shorts? And what about shoes? I like thicker soles.

Secondly, what events would I be good at? I know I want to do something with running, (I’ve never done track before) but I can run a mile in 6:24 and have really great endurance. I’m going to try Cross Country next year, but that’s besides the point. I am pretty fast as well. I’m not sure what my current times are, but last year in 8th grade I ran 50 yards in 7 seconds. (I think that was it) I’m 14 now.

Thanks!!!

1. what to wear. i am surprised they didn’t have to buy a uniform, but it all depends on where you live. i live in california and i wear spandex and a tank top and boys where the dreadful short shorts and a t shirt or tanktop or sometimes no shirt,
but i did race a x-country race in Oregan where it was snowing and i wore under armour (its expensive but works)
go to the practice just wearing shorts and a shirt that you fell comfortable in and for the race they should have you buy a uniform. (u can wear spandex under them but sadly there is not much you can do about the shortness.)
and for shoes you are suppose to buy spikes for track – they are not recquired but are recommended. – you can buy them at most sporting good stores – they are suppose to be really tight with not a lot of room
2. and for what meet u should race in its up to what you enjoy and are capable of doing. boys track is very fast and i dont think a 6:24 time would cut it – but im sure if you trained you would get a lot faster. so for that – i would go up to the coach and tell him ur time and that you dont really know what you want to run. so you can try sprinting and distance and im sure you will find something that your good at and that you enjoy. – ur sprinting times seem good.

good luck with your season and i hope this helped
