How serious is the dress code to go to court?

Everyone always says formal attire, formal wear, formal wear, and seems to be the standard of my experience, but exactly how … So we can double that? I ask because during the summer I like to wear short-sleeved shirts and sandals. Thus tomorrow when I have to go to court it will be but short of a formal long sleeved black button up, with black dress pants, but I take sandals like shoes, made for summer. It is also formal, leather, and not really show toes .. that has a lot of material on it but remains a sandal and a few of my friends are like "OMG u have lost ur mind? Dont do that!" How serious is the dress code exactly and why all matter small details, or not? What's the worst that can happen if I'm wearing sandals? lol.

There is no "code", unless the dress reflects how much respect he has for the court. A prosecutor and a judge is supposed to rule on the facts of the law, but if you show disrespect to them by the way they dress can weigh if they have the opportunity to go hard or easy to you, or to give it a rest. The judge, lawyers, the secretary, all wearing business attire. The baliffs and court officials all wear uniforms. Taking this as its cue. At a minimum, you should be clean, neat, and what would be called "casual business. I've been in court a couple times in traffic violations and always wear a jacket and tie, but I think I'm the only exception of lawyers. So that many people go to the judge on the shirts and dirty jeans, or low-cut tops and I can see the judge and everyone else just roll their eyes. Justice is done, and fairly, but still bars on the court. Sounds like what you have planned well.
