/ 'Hiking on foot .. help! ?

in a few weeks Im going to make an expedition Dofe with the school. we are walking about. 20 miles and I wondering – is I have to buy hiking boots?! what is the best kind to get? will they need to be waterproof? Ive never done anything like this before, so I have no idea what to expect, what I need so any help much appreciated:)

The best shoes for hiking and trekking, while hauling loads under 40 pounds are a new pair of light running, Cross training, trail running, or outdoor shoes. I'm not sure which brands are available in the UK, but in the U.S. New Balance, Salomon, Merrell, and are the best brands. Along with these shoes light path one must use a simple thin nylon or polyester socks, which we call a "dress" socks, which is relatively inexpensive. The advantages of a lightweight shoe are obviously less effort to walk more nimble feet, comfort standing in general and especially in preventing blisters. A waterproof or Gore-Tex lined shoe is only suitable for the Arctic, snow and freezing temperatures, where hypothermia or frostbite is a possibility. For temperate hiking hiking shoe light allows the evaporation of sweat from your shoes and the shoes were to wet one's own body heat would be enough to keep your feet warm and dry the shoe, even when wet and a light hiking shoe does not weigh much more as it dries. He backpacking and hiking in the Sierra over the years in light hiking shoes, and in recent years, my wife and my children do well that we know works. Not having to remove shoes when crossing a stream, or carry a pair of shoes camp, and never have to worry about blisters … simply no inconvenience!
