Is it okay to call a job if your application is reviewed yet or not?

Well I lost my job on august 29th. I’ve done retail for 2 years now and i’m a nursing student so i definitely need money to pay for different things. I applied at Best Buy, Bath and Body Works, Old Navy, Kohls, Marshalls, Costco, Heinens, Claire’s, and Famous Footwear. Is it okay to call them to see if my application has been reviewed? What do you guys think are my chances of getting a job out of all these places will be? How long do they usually take to look over applications? I apologize for sounding crazy I just am under a lot of stress right now!

Calling back is a good way to show you are interested in the position and you can check with them to see if they will give you a timeframe for how soon they intend to hire. Calling once a week (unless they indicate otherwise) is probably enough.

Your probability of being hired depends on how well you interview (if you interview) and the strength of your experience and background.
